Certificate in Children, Youth, and Family Services

Do you have a passion for serving youth and families to help them better their lives? With this undergraduate certificate program you can take the first step in building a rewarding career as a family counselor or a related profession.

The 30-credit program helps you prepare for a wide variety of service roles in child and youth service settings and family health and welfare agencies. It is designed as a flexible, convenient opportunity for self-enhancement, higher education, and professional development. 

Step Up to an Associate Degree and Add a Penn State Credential to Your Résumé

Once you have successfully completed the certificate program in children, youth, and family services, you can apply the academic credits you’ve earned toward the associate degree in human development and family studies. Talk to your adviser to learn more.

Admission Requirements for the Certificate Program

  • You must be a high school graduate,
  • Or, you must have completed your GED.
