Free Math Improvement Course

As adult learners, we often return to school after years away (sometimes many!) from a formal classroom. Improving or refreshing your confidence and competence with college-level math can be just the thing you need to get you started toward success as a student.

Penn State Continuing Education partners with the CIU 10 Development Center for Adults to offer a free, two-semester Math Improvement Course; Part I during the fall semester, Part II in the spring. This is a noncredit course which ideally provides you with a foundation in Algebra and prepares you for success in Math 21, College Algebra I which meets a quantification requirement for many of the non-science majors. The course meets on Tuesday evenings in the Outreach Building in Innovation Park. Students looking for a slower-paced math improvement course should consider this option. It could be an appropriate alternative to Math 4. To register for the fall 2011 course, Contact the Development Center for Adults at 814-359-3069 or the Continuing Education Office at 814-865-3443.

Advising Appointments

Your Penn State Continuing Education student services team can provide both academic advising and career counseling, in addition to financial aid counseling. We can work with you, one-on-one, to discuss your individual circumstances, employment experiences, and transferable skills, and assist you in developing a plan that can meet your needs and help you reach your goals. Career assessment tools are also available to assist you in identifying your areas of interest and what career paths might be best for you.

You can meet with an adviser at the Continuing Education office in 128 Outreach Building, at the Penn State Learning Center in Lewistown, or at the Penn State Williamsport Center.

Call 814-865-3443 today to make an appointment with your Continuing Education student services team: Liz Lasher, Dana Aina, Betsy Esposito, and Sarah Zipf.
