Adult Continuing Education

Adults enter college at different levels and with different backgrounds; some are seeking their first degree while others are coming back to college to complete a degree they started many years ago. Still, others rely on Penn State to help them update their training and skills, which can provide new opportunities for advancement.

Who is considered an Adult Learner?

An adult learner may be 24 years of age or older; or a veteran of the armed services; or an active duty service member; or returning to school after four or more years of employment, homemaking, or other activity; or a person who assumes multiple adult roles such as parent, spouse/partner, employee, and student.
