Health Policy and Administration Certificate
(15 credits)
The health policy and administration (HPA) certificate program is ideal if you want to change your career to health care operations, facilities management, or administration. The required courses provide a basic overview of the health care system and management in health care. The 9 credits in electives can provide you with a deeper understanding of health care issues involving managed care, financing, strategic planning and marketing, and human resources. You can complete this certificate in as little as two academic semesters with evening courses.

- H P A 101 Introduction to Health Services Organization (3 credits)
- H P A 332 Health Systems Management (3 credits)
Elective Courses — Select 9 credits from:
- HPA 420 Principles of Managed Care (3 credits)
- HPA 447 Financing Health Care (3 credits)
Students taking HPA 447 should note that they must complete INS 301 Risk and Insurance or FIN 100 Introduction to Finance as a prerequisite.

Students completing the health policy administration certificate will need to complete a form available on the College of Health and Human Development Web site, or send an e-mail to healthhd@psu.edu.
Students should call Continuing Education at 814-865-3443 to register for courses in the certificate.
