Penn State Continuing and Professional Education delivers a wide variety of credit and noncredit programs that help you develop new skills, keep up with change and innovation in your industry, and earn continuing education units (CEUs). Programs can be delivered on-site at your business, at Penn State campuses, or at a public facility. If you don’t see the training you are looking for, call us and we can customize a program just for your company or organization.

Act 48 for Educators
Penn State Continuing Education and World Campus offer a variety of programs, both credit and noncredit, across education disciplines, such as adult education, counselor education, classroom management, instructional systems, and special education. Our accelerated, weekend, evening and online course delivery options enable you to meet Act 48 requirements while accommodating your learning and lifestyle needs. 

Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
The GIS is a certification-granting curriculum focused on training GIS Technicians for the United States work force. GIS technology is an organized collection of computer hardware, software, geographic data, and personnel designed to efficiently capture, store, update, manipulate, analyze, and display all forms of geographically referenced (spatial) information.

CEUs for Code Officials
Meet your Code Official Continuing Education needs. Our program fulfills UCC mandatory continuing education hours: 45 hours of training over a three-year time span (depending on the number of certifications you hold) while providing depth and background behind the sections of code. Courses can be taken as stand-alone modules and participants can take any of the modules in any order. Our convenient scheduling option of with 4-hour midday training blocks minimize your “time out of the field”.

Essentials of Human Resource Management
The program is a great opportunity for entry-level HR professionals exploring HR as a career field, such as line managers who have HR responsibilities and staffing specialists whose experience has been in a single functional area. Since the program is not based on a certification, previous HR experience is not required.

Functional Engineer/Professional Engineer Exam Prep
Whether you plan on taking the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) or the Professional Engineer (PE) exam, we have the instructors and courses you need to prepare for the exams and a successful future in the field of engineering.

Functional Manager
The Functional Manager program, through a series of experiential workshop sessions, allows participants to explore and practice five key areas of management.

Green Advantage Certification
Lessen the environmental impact of and competitively bid for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) design and construction projects. These open enrollment courses instruct you on the background, principles, and practices of green design, construction, and project management.

Personal Care Home Administrator Certification
This 60-hour program can be taken as noncredit for professional development hours or as 7 graduate credits that you can apply toward many bachelor’s degree programs including health policy administration. Learn about the characteristics of the population served, licensing and regulatory issues, management of staff, and clinical care issues for residents of personal care homes. Gain knowledge about basic documentation, caring for residents with special needs, nutrition, and food handling and sanitation.

PHR/SPHR Exam Review
This exam review for certification by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) helps to prepare individuals for the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certifications.

Professional Development School Nurse Series
Enhance your earning potential, advance your career, and satisfy Act 48 and Act 58 requirements. This program allows you to take advanced-level nursing courses in convenient formats over the summer and is ideal for school nurses and school counselors, home health care nurses, nurses working in hospitals and other facilities, and educators who deal with health-related matters and sports, including coaches and health or physical education teachers.

Real Estate Sales and Broker Exam Prep
This Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission approved program can help you prepare for a rewarding career in real estate. The purchase of a home or investment property is one of the most significant events in a person’s lifetime. As a real estate broker or sales agent, you can assist people with this complex and significant transaction.

Supervision Essentials Series
This Supervision Essentials series focuses on developing practical skills in four key areas related to successfully supervising and leading today’s individuals and teams. It provides an excellent opportunity for newer supervisors, as well as those looking to advance to a supervisory position.
