Peer Mentoring Program
The Continuing Education Peer Mentoring Program helps new students get acclimated to the college environment and connects them with experienced students who can give them advice on how to juggle education with jobs and families, their favorite courses and professors, and other helpful information and tips. As the population of adult students at Penn State continues to grow, we ask you to consider volunteering to be a mentor to a newly enrolled adult student. What would this entail and how would it benefit you?
- Guidelines: Your program will begin with an online orientation to help you understand the role of a mentor.
- Short-Time Commitment: We ask for a one-semester commitment to your mentee and a minimum of four contacts throughout the semester through e-mail, telephone, or face-to-face.
- Represent Adult Learners at Penn State: Talk with potential adult students, share your story, and represent Penn State Continuing Education at community events.
- Support Others: You have the chance to “give back” to fellow adult learners who are beginning their education at Penn State
- Build Your Résumé: The Peer Mentoring Program is an excellent volunteer activity you can add to your résumé
